Where we swim

It all begins from the beach, however in winter, some choose to jump in from the first pier landing to avoid the cold of the shallow waters. We never swim alone, so before heading out, groups agree on the course they will take - influenced by the weather and tidal conditions.

One of the joys of open water swimming is that conditions are never the same - each swim is unique and never regretted.

INSIDE TRIANGLE

Short and sweet and well suited to all conditions and capabilities

OUTSIDE TRIANGLE

Usually swam clockwise to the outer reef pole (green). A great Friday pm swim followed by a drink in the club

The STARTER'S HUT

When it is cold or your own abilities 'on the day dictate it - a swim along the outside and back is a pleasure taken up by many.

The St.ANDREWS

A shorter but equally ‘on par’ challenging course.

The NO BRAINER

A standard swim for many (in particular the Figgies)

The BIG COURSE

Popular longer distance swim that is set as the WINTER CHAMPION OF THE BAY challenge swim in June/July each year.

The DENDY STREET

The first marker is the green Reef Pole, from which there are a number of variation - 2 poles and a buoy, Dendy first pole and back or Green point pole and back (as in this pic)
